Thanks To Obamacare, Are There No More Individual Health Insurance Policies Available For Children

Thanks To Obamacare, Are There No More Individual Health Insurance Policies Available For Children?
I've been looking everywhere, but I cannot find any health insurance company that will write an individual health insurance policy for a child. Before Obamacare, there were hundreds of sources for individual health insurance plans for kids, now there are NONE. Does anyone have any idea if there is anyone writing individual health insurance policies for kids?

No. Thanks to the greed of the THREE insurance companies that are not issuing anymore individual policies to children, there are no more individual health insurance policies for children. But again, it is only for the THREE companies that decided to do it. 2 disgusting things: 1) That the insurance companies would this at all. 2) That you would blame their greed on the government.

Not true. There was a woman at the town hall today who said she got a good rate and great coverage for her kid who had a pre-existing condition. She LOVES Obamacare. And you don't have kids.

NO, because Obama instituted the repeal of "pre-existing conditions" for children and they take effect now. SO rather than GO OUT OF BUSINESS, companies will just stop writing those policies to prevent parents from only buying a policy AFTER their kids get sick. SIMPLE really!

yeah there are lots of them... but what state are you in.

You can get it tomorrow at a much better price.

Greedy insurance companies have figured out that since they can't deny care to children for pre-exisiting conditions or drop kids when they become ill, they'll just not cover children on individual policies at all. What's the point of having insurance anyway? Unless you are covered by a government plan (as in you work for a government origination), health insurance is way too expensive for a median wage earner anyway you look at it. So, even if you do fork over your $1,000.00 a month, you still have to pay 30% co-insurance, plus a crazy high deductible, plus a co-pay. Thanks, but I'll just put my $1000.00 a month in a savings account, and take my chances on bankruptcy and/or death.

Under the Health Care Act, insurance companies must cover children with pre-existing conditions. I read today that some of these insurance companies have committed a despicable act but putting their profits way ahead of childrens care. They had refused to cover seriously ill children before but they have gone beyond the pale by by cutting off childrens policies completely. I dont think Obama and those who wrote the bill expected that to happen. They negotiated with the insurance executives several times in good faith and caved in to Republicans not to have a public option with the guarantees the insurance companies would cover kids with medical conditions. I understand that United, Cigna, Aetna are refusing to write policies. Dont blame Pres. Obama. He tried to force insurance companies to cover sick children. It is just terrible. If I had insurance with those companies I would cancel it. ALMACIGA: If you already have children covered by Blue Cross they probably wont drop them but you cannot get a new policy if the kids have pre-existing conditions. Blue Cross is Anthem. Parents wont let their seriously ill kids go without insurance because they can get sick at any time and there are waiting periods for care so no parent would take that kind of risk.

Blame the culprit- the evil bastard insurance companies. This is a PERFECT example of why the insurance industry needed reform. They are gaming the system. It's a perfect example of the fact that they ONLY want to insure people who are healthy and need little to no care. Once the full reform takes effect, there will be more tweaks. There will be plenty of companies who will write a policy for kids, because there is a need.

Go to Blue Cross Blue Shield, they will not turn you down. My daughter sister in law has her children with them. I am sure there are others. Insurance companies that have that as an excuse did not want to insure children any ways. It will give opportunity for other insurance companies to be created.

If that is true I'm not surprised. That was the real reason for of the legislation after all. To force as many people on the " government option" as possible. A giant leap toward their goal of " single payer" ( government run and controlled) health care.

That was on FNC today. An interview with a representative with the Insurance institute stated that they can not write an individual policy because there is no way to know how much it will cost the insurance company down the line. But there will be some type of group insurance after the details are worked out. He said this may take some time but would not commit to how long. He was asked 4 times for a time line. @@@

That must be one of those things that we didn't know about. We had to get it to find out what it does. All you liberals were so eager to buy a "Pig in a Poke"

No. You are confusing Corporatecare for Obamacare.
16 :
That would never happen in Canada....I wonder why???

Yeah, blame "Obamacare", it is not like big insurance has not been kicking off the sick and raising premiums for years. Children with pre existing conditions being accepted, right up their with finding unicorns. I am still amused that connies are not outraged that big insurance would kick off children and the sick just to pad their bottom line, but rather take it out on a law that makes these things illegal. Is it just greed, or do they realyl hate their fellow Americans that much.
