What disipline does Child Abuse fall under

What disipline does Child Abuse fall under?
Meaning is it health? social services? like schizophrenia falls under Psychology, and Steroids falls under health, so what about Child Abuse?

I'll write what first came to mind: Criminal Behavior/Social Work. It is also a mental health issue, when the perpetrator is ill. C. :)!!
4 :
spanking's for no reson screeming at the child for no reson and that's all i know right now
5 :
It cuts across a number of disciplines. Health practitioners are often at the front line of child abuse, especially physical abuse, as they see the results. Social Workers are often involved in investigating such abuse. Psychologists and social workers provide treatment for abuse victims. Psychologists also study the impact of trauma. So, I would say that it is difficult to put child abuse into a single category.

What is a good health insurance for children with special needs

What is a good health insurance for children with special needs?
My son is on a feeding tube due to a small bowel transplant he received last year. My husband and I are returning to a full work schedule and our health insurance (Tricare) does not cover a nurse for him, or special daycare because his only special need is the feeding tube and the medication he receives through it. Apparently that's not enough. So is there a good company that I can purchase insurance through who will cover these types of things for him?

that is absolutely sickening to me. i have tricare and they paid for my BREAST IMPLANTS. they should pay for anything that is truely medically needed, have you contested it and brought it to the head of the tricare region you are in? im sure something could be done about this, that is just absolutely horrible!!!! if it comes down to it and they wont cover it, i would contact blue coss blue shield, ive heard great things about their coverage. plus, no insurance can turn your child down because of his pre-existing condition, which is great. i HOPE that tricare ends up covering it, but if not then i hope you get the coverage you need at a fair price.
2 :
Your going to want to get insurance from the company you work at, even if they don't cover your sons expenses. With a company your insurance is being partially covered by the job, if you buy insurance from a third party you have to pay all of it; which will likely be more expensive then trying to cover your sons costs yourself. After all any insurance willing to cover your son will raise the costs due to it. Plus it will take time to switch insurance; I'm not sure but it sounds like your sons condition is temporary and may not last long enough to warrent the change. Your first option would be to contact tricare and speak with them in person. There may be options avilible to you which you were unaware of. If you are in a situation where you simply can't cover the extra costs there are many forms of finacial aid and grants you can look to for assistance instead. I don't know enough about your specific situation to know what applies for you unfortunatly. Here are some links to information about medical aid for children, which may or may not be useful depending on your situation... http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/svc/alpha/c/special-needs/resources/financial/funding.htm http://www.php.com/unitedhealthcarefoundation
3 :
You should check with your state Dept of Human Services to see if you can receive this help through the State....most public health agencies will provide this service to a special needs child. You could also appeal the decision through Tricare..but that may take too long...Best of luck.

Why does America rank lowest in "Health Care Performance"

Why does America rank lowest in "Health Care Performance"?
behind Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom? According to the study just released by American Public Health Association: We are 27th in life expectancy 21st in child health ranking (infant mortality and low birth weight) BUT we spend TWICE as much money per person than those other countries. Why? Oh, I forgot to mention that the study noted that all these countries, the ones that pay half or less per capita for better health care use the government to get closer to the goal of universal health care.

Most of these other countries offer centralized, single payer health care. No one is uninsured.
2 :
As you well know, it is the "How and Where and What" the money gets spent on. If the money is used to build more buildings that does not help the patient who needs help right now. If the money is spent on "Administration and Office staff" again that does not help the patient. If the money is used to increase the wages of the nurses and doctors already in the system, again that does not help the patient that can't find a doctor because there is a shortage of them as older ones retire out and are not being replaced. I am talking about the public system, not Health Care for profit doctors.(that only the well off can afford) and the poor guy can't. The poor are left to take care of themselves or die off. Canada, Germany, and the other countries have a socialist type system where everybody is treated equal when it comes to medical care. So the access to medication is available to them all. That in itself may be the reasoning.

health insurance for child

health insurance for child?
trying to find out the best type of plan for just my 20 month old daughter. for well child checkups and immunizations and all the things for children. do i go with high ded, or high premium, i don't have enough money to be paying when we go for checkups (except maybe a 15 dollar copay) ok, heres the deal, i have raised my daughter from birth and but she is not my biological child, now the state wants to take money from her biological father to pay for her health insurance, this will cause complications and may lead to a legal showdown between me, my wife and this person. i need to drop her from the state plan so they will not try to take money from him.

I know that the Gerber Company has great life insurance but I don't know about health insurance, but you can certainly check with them. Just go to Gerber Life Insurance Company website and write to them and see what they can recommend.
2 :
You should go to your local health department , and apply for medicaid , depending on how much you make you could get full coverage for your child meaning you wouldnt have to pay a cent for the doctor or prescriptions . I am pregnant and just applied for it , its a lifesaver if you dont have insurance .Also the health department will give free immunizations for children.Hope this helps ...
3 :
Another reason why universal health care makes sense. Problem with it is it's just too socialist for the USA.
4 :
Many of the states offer a free program just for kids. Look for info online about your state.
5 :
You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did. Go to: http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=616163&Type=health Take care, Casey
6 :
You can purchase individual insurance for a child of any age. I suggest that you contact a local health agent and ask them for recommendations/quotes. It sounds like it is a complicated situation. I applaud you for trying to do the best thing for the child. You're a real Dad.
7 :
If your in California, you can apply for Healthy Families. There is a income requirement. Also Blue Cross has a plan that's a PPO, you would have a $3500.00 deductible, after which the office visits are $0
8 :
Visit http://www.cheap-credit-cards.org/insurance/ for a list of providers in your area after you enter your zipcode

Two people of normal health have a child with hemophilia (sex-linked recessive)

Two people of normal health have a child with hemophilia (sex-linked recessive)?
What are the genotypes of both parents? Explain
Biology - 3 Answers

Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The parents are heterozygous for hemophilia. In order for the child to have it, he/she would have to inherit 1 copy of the recessive gene from each parent, otherwise the trait would be masked by the non-hemophilia gene.
2 :
Dad has X (normal) y Mom has X (normal) X(hemophelia) The child is a boy the boy's genotype is X (hemophelia) Y
3 :
H=Hemophilia n=Normal Dad=Xn y Mom=XH Xn Unless you know that the dad is affected by the disease (in which case he probably wouldn't be having a child), the faulty gene comes entirely from the mother. Since the Hemophilia gene is recessive the mother won't have any symptoms of the disease. The problem is: 50% of this couples male children will have the disease, and 25% of their total children will have it, and 25% of the female children will be carriers.

Abused as a child, does that lead to mental health problems later on

Abused as a child, does that lead to mental health problems later on?
i'm the third child in my family. my mum is very strict on us,she practically screams at us everyday, all the time.sometimes she even hits us when we don't do something correctly.anyways,i realised that my brother,my sister and me,all of us had/have mental health issues.i was diagnosed with OCD,anxiety and eating disorders at the age of 13.my brother's case was worse and my sister had self-harm issues. although we all recovered (i'm 16 now),it makes me wonder. is there a link between abuse at a young age and mental health issues later on?i'm asking this because i have a little sister,a 10 year old.my mum screams at her a lot,and although i try my best to protect her, sometimes i can't,because my mum screams at me too.i don't want her to go down the path that my brother,me and my sister went through,as mental disorders are well..horrid.

Yeah.Sometimes when little kids are mentally disturbed at a very small age, it goes on in their mind until they figure it out.Whenever your mother screams at your little sister, just try to comfort her when your mother is not there.Try telling your sister to just forget about that or change the subject with a distraction like a joke or a game.Since your sister is only 10, she will go through very tough times with mental disturbances since growing children need lots of love at this time.
2 :
I agree with Clara. Although it might not always be possible, (when you are not physically there) try to comfort your sister and let her know that you are there for her whenever this happens, which by the sounds of it is quite a lot. Make sure she knows she is loved and hopefully nothing really extreme will develop.
3 :
The abuse probably caused your OCD Yes this do affect you later in life. Get some therapy before you date anybody, because your likely to pick the wrong person.
4 :
yeah, and record you mother going off her head. Make a cd and replay it back to her so the cow can get a wakening call that her behavior is off. See if you Dad can sort her out. Tell her when you train a pet you do it with biscuits and affection better then when you smack it as it will just behave worse. Tell her she doesnt need to scream- she just needs to get some inteligence and use communication to get her point across. Get an ipod for your sister and tell her to wear it in your mothers company. Your mum has issues and should think about her kids more. Or get out and get a life so she has other things on.

Is this a good article to support universal health care

Is this a good article to support universal health care?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080506/ap_on_he_me/child_health Also, the European countries scored in the top ten, while African/Sub Sahara region finished last. Is there a race issue involved here? BTW: the US is not in top or bottom 10. Thanks!

Now, if you can tell me how a government that is already $8 trillion in the hole is going to pay for such a massive expense, I may consider reading your article.
2 :
1) No one is proposing health care, but coverage - The best insurance in the world does no good if you can't access the care... or the means to pay for it (it's expensive) 2) How many times have you been refused care for you or you child at a community hospital? 3) This is a local and state issue. The federal government cannot possible handle care for everyone. It would be at very best discriminatory. You can't lump everyone together (regionally, racially, economically), but they don't have the resources to divide everyone out, either.
3 :
It's an okay article, although the problem in third world countries is poverty and lack of resources. Its questionable whether many third world countries can afford to fund a decent level of universal healthcare. Here's another good article. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/40762.php
4 :
There is no good reason to begin universal healthcare. The thought that bad care is better than no care sounds good only to those not receiving the bad care. Universal healthcare costs many billions of dollars and many from nations with it such as Canada are tired of waiting in line and simply travel to the US for proper care. You instantly lose cosmetic care, because only the most needed care is covered and those with the least emergent needs wait forever while those who need emergent care are seen. many developing nations of the world don't provide healthcare because their gov'ts are corrupt and feed their leaders pockets with their taxes and don't care for their people. Look to mexico and the sudan for the definition of corrupt. If our nation wants to go bankrupt then by all means institute universal healthcare.

How can you protect child's mental health records from a biological parent who is the abuser? Oklahoma

How can you protect child's mental health records from a biological parent who is the abuser? Oklahoma?
My child went to a psychologist to get help with mood disorders. The Dr. further decided that she is suffering from PTSD and Clinical Depression/Anxiety r/t emotional/verbal abuse from the father. The Dr turned this into DHS for investigation. Well that is going on along with court stuff.. well abuser dad has gone to the same Dr listed on the court paperwork and "demanded" the paperwork. EVERYTHING in the file. Notes tests, everything.. the freaking DR is going to give all of it to him.. Is there any laws to protect children from the abuser in OK? I know HIPAA has many regulation and states "professional judgement" repeatedly. DR says OK law over rides that.. not sure how ?? Question is what/ where can I find rights for the child. the whole record is negative to him and he still gets visitation until court. so this puts her in further harm and the DR is ok with this they said.. Please any suggestions .. Help I am at a Loss!!

If the biological father still has parental rights then he is allowed access to the child's medical information under HIPAA. The only way to prevent this would be for you to hire a lawyer who practices Family Law and try to terminate his parental rights; if he really is an abuser then that wouldn't be too difficult a case to make. In short, go find a lawyer right away. http://findlaw.org
