Well, my family has an innate tendency towards artistic professions... I would like my child to be AT LEAST as intelgent as I am (I'm above average, no boast, just stating a fact) and I would like her to be as artistic as my aunt... She taught at the Art Insititue of Chicago... I have a wide variety of skills that range from arts, crafts, metal working, wood working, textiles... My father is exelent in wood and metal working... I would want my child to follow in our families tendency towards the arts... Creativity also inhances the mind so intelegence...

Why can't Dads get child support deductions on income tax

Why can't Dads get child support deductions on income tax?
Dads pay child support, health and dental care for there children and can't deduct anything off there income tax. Yet, the ex-wife and her new man can deduct the Dad's children on there income tax. What is going on here? MEN something has to change with this!

ummmm not all dad's cover health and dental none of mine have.I got 150 a month does that cover a child NO there's your answer it takes a lot more than child support to take care of child. Fla day care is usually more than anyone pays in child support. Plus the child had no health or dental benefits.. daughter is getting 350 a month and she does not get health or dental from her ex...he never comes to get the child..

It is unfair. If you are supporting your child/children you should be entitled to reclaim some of that expense. I have yet to understand that whole scenario and I'm a female. Actually Christmas Elf I have three kids, but I'm fortunate enough to still be with their father. But I bet you do a poll and 90% of females would have a different opinion.

Has any of you ever used NYS Child Health Plus insurance

Has any of you ever used NYS Child Health Plus insurance?
My husband just lost his job and with it his benefits. We have a 22 month old daughter and I don't want her to go without any coverage! He just lost it so we haven't even started a moving on plan yet but this is my #1 issue!! I read a bit about it on the NYS site but I was looking for personal experience. Do you get to choose your own Dr? How much does it over?? Thanks so much for your help! I live in Niagara Country, NY.. thanks so much for the first answer!

I have never used it myself, but I am a billing manager for a medical facility. Shop very carefully before you select a plan. They are not all alike. The available plans depend on where you live. Assuming you live in one of the 5 boros of NYC or Nassau county, you have some excellent choices. You most likely will have to select a primary care physician, but most of the networks are so large that shouldn't be a problem. I suggest you call her pediatrician and ask which plans they participate with. Good luck!
2 :
Child Health Plus (CHP) is a great plan. It covers pretty much anything - soup to nuts, often including dental - until the kids are 19 years old, and the premiums are very affordable. (Most of the ones I know of are less than $50 a month per child.) Since there are varied CHP plans, call your pediatrician and ask which ones they take. Often, you do get a choice between several plans (In my area - which is Orange/Rockland County - we have the choice between Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wellcare, Fidelis, and several others - there may be other choices where you are.) You do get to select the doctor - as long as they're on the plan, and most of them are - but sometimes, they mis-key the selection, so when you get the cards, double check the PCP (primary care physician) to make sure they put the right one. If they didn't, call them right away so they can fix it and send you a new card. You also have to be dilligent about recertifiying every year - otherwise, they drop you like a hot rock. (Recertifiying takes about six weeks, so make sure you get the paperwork at least eight weeks before you need to!) Honestly, I wish they had "Grownup Health Plus", it's such a good deal!

child sneaking food/health conciuos parents Plase help!

child sneaking food/health conciuos parents Plase help!?
A student in a friend's classroom has VERY health conscious parents... to the point that the child is rewarded with a trip to the dollar store if she brings home the candy that the teacher gives her as a reward. The child likes sweets and wants to eat like the other children, so she has been caught going through the trash can pulling out Goldfish and popcorn and EATING it. (Yuck, right?) She even takes candy from the teacher without telling the teacher. I was wondering what kind of advice I should give this teacher to give the parent. Are they setting their kid up for an eating disorder? The girl is only 7...

Yes the parents are being far too strict by not allowing some sweets. They are only making it more desireable for the child by making it forbidden. I don't know if getting the teacher involved by telling the parents will help...it may make them even firmer with the child and they could resort to having the school report back to them if they see her eating something they disapprove of.
2 :
the child isnt being a child a balanced situation is needed with candy for certain times. candy isnt a punishment its a reward and the kid thinks that she is being deprived of the reward. the parents and the child both need to be educated by a teacher
3 :
my feelings on this are mixed....a) the parents are being responsible and trying to teach the child good, healthy eating habits and should be praised for it. b) they are her parents and as such have the right to raise her anyway they choose so long as they maintain the childs health. that being said, i also believe that a child should be taught moderation rather than over restraint. as others have noted in previous posts, a child who is not allowed ANY junk food only wants it more....its the forbidden fruit. as parents with teenagers know, anything you tell a child NOT to do is always the first thing they DO when they are out of the parents sight. and it feels sooooo good to get away with it that they tend to overindulge. the parents should try giving the child a treat a couple of times a week and teach her that its ok to have it IN MODERATION. but that is only MY opinion. if the parents are unwilling to try this method, then the teacher should respect their wishes and not give the child the candy. but the parents also need to seek some advice from a doctor or therapist on how to get their daughter to stop eating from garbage cans....that's unhealthy and unsanitary. EDIT: is there any chance there is a medical reason the parents do not want her to have sugar?? diabetes or something? adhd? hyperactivity disorder? sugar can have major impacts on those disorders....
4 :
Please do not jump to conclusions. The child may have Prader-Willi Syndrome. Prader Willi Syndrome would cause kids to always feel hungry and eat out of the garbage, or the child might have diabetes. In either case the parents would be saving the childs life. Check out Prader-willi syndrome on the web.
5 :
If the child is on a sugar free diet, including abstaining from artificial sweeteners, processed flour, and "-ose" substances, then she will not crave sugars and will in fact be sickened by them. So she is getting sugar from somewhere, but is not getting enough to sate her addiction, (yes sugar is the second most addictive substance on earth, the first being oxygen). This has caused her to resort to "junky" behavior, including stealing and eating garbage. The parents need to sit down with the teacher and discuss their child's diet. They cannot be depriving the child of sugar at home and then have the school letting her have sugar.
6 :
I have to agree with 4x the fun on this one. My first child, I did not allow candy or sodas, he had his own drawer at the bottmom of my frig filled with string cheese, applesauce, jello, pudding and fruits and my mom with always not respect my wishes and give candy to him, now he is not much on candy or sodas as a teenager. My second child, I allow her candy and her father allows her soda and she just can't get enough of it. She is addicted to it. But she also will eat any vegetable you can give her and my son won't. Taking a child to the dollar store to get some junk toy is not an award. Maybe you should recommend to your friend buying the class cut apples, bananas or grapes so that the child does not feel the need to dig threw the trash and on the same note does not trample the parents wishes.
7 :
if i were the teacher, i'd just tell the parents what's going on and let them decide what to do with that information. and i'd tell the kid that they're not allowed to take food from the trash and explain why. but i'd also stop handing out sweets as a reward at school! why wouldn't school want to be teaching good eating habits? not that i think kids should never have sweets, but i certainly don't want my kid thinking every time you behave or get a good grade you should eat something bad for you....
8 :
the parents are whackos. give the kid a candy or two.

It's WAY worse because it will affect everyone, not just children, and will cost far more.
2 :
NO, IT IS TAKING THE BEST HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN THE WORLD AND DESTROYING IT
3 :
No Child Left Behind was an ill planned attempt to do something good that failed miserably. But it had good intentions. The Health Reform crap is all about making money. All Americans will be required to buy insurance from the insurance companies so we can continue to pay exorbitant amounts to health care professionals, HMO's and drug companies. If you can't afford insurance, then the government will help you pay for it (and remember, the government has no ability to actually make money, so this cost will be born by the taxpayer). All HMO's and Drug Companies have congressmen and/or senators on their board of directors or advisory boards, so who's getting paid and who's getting screwed? Sounds a lot like the climate change scam to me. Fat stacks of cash.

What is the logic behind forcing people to have children they do not want and denying the live children health

What is the logic behind forcing people to have children they do not want and denying the live children health?
care. According to the Bible causing a miscarriage is not murder. In fact if you do it against the husbands wishes there is just a fine. http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/2598 So how do the 14 year old girls that are too young to work provide healthcare for their children without govt assistance? Last I heard Republicans want to keep condoms out of the hands of teenagers.

There isn't - and no one is doing that. People are asking others not to SLAUGHTED their unborn children, and to do what almost any other mammal, and even the lowest forms of life do - take care of their children. If that's too much of a burden then we might as well all give up on the future of civilization - and of the human race - right now. It's shameful that some on the left apparently think we should.
2 :
1. Prevention of murder; 2. No one is denied health in America.
3 :
I dunno, what fairy tale were you reading that causes you to believe this?
4 :
don't think liberal can comprehend the correlation between more government and less freedoms. their brains just arnt wired that way. For instance government will now use the higher health care cost excuse to limit or tax everything you do. NYC is already using this excuse to limit salt in food at resturants. soon you will be told skiing has added risk and thus a tax or worse ban will be put in place
5 :
Yeah and what is the logic behind forcing people to buy health care, or forcing one person to pay for another persons coverage?
6 :
That's a good question. It's not the state of things, but I see where you're going. It's paradoxical.
7 :
ive never met a pro life conservative who wanted to deny health care to a child, if fact more often than not they help the child.
8 :
What is wrong with self-protection, what is wrong with self-respect, what is wrong with common-sense, what is wrong with getting yourself "fixed" so you do not have any unwanted children
9 :
What is the logic behind travelling the tunnel of love and then expecting the rest of us to pay for the baby that results from the trip? Would that be LAZY PARASITE logic?
10 :
As opposed to the logic of putting yourself in a situation where you're going to have a kid that you can't afford? Condoms are cheap. Keeping your pants on is even cheaper. If can't do one, do the other. Sorry, but this argument fails because it's a defense of STUPID PEOPLE BEING STUPID.
11 :
Why is murder a crime? The taking of a human life for such a dismal reason "I don't want a baby" is ridiculous to allow... there are steps and medications people can take to avoid such a thing (granted sometimes there are extenuating circumstances but those are the exception).... No child in this country is denied healthcare unless the parents are the ones denying it to them.... EVERY state has CHIP (federally funded health inurance for low income children) EVERY hospital is required to see and administer to anyone that comes into their doors (and for those that say that is what is driving up health care costs, that may be so, but the health insurance bill will not change that, only make it more difficult for hospitals to recoup thier losses, driving up prices even further)... What is your logic for the murder of unborn children?
12 :
The stupidest thing about the abortion hysteria is that the Bible is perfectly OK with abortion.
13 :
Some of the answers you received to this question are amazingly ridiculous. No one is "slaughtering" anyone, and the claim that everyone in America has access to health care is either incredibly naive and uninformed, or a blatant lie (made by those who, no doubt, have health care insurance themselves). The Catholic Church and the extremist "Religious Right" (the James Dobson/Jerry Falwell/Pat Robertson crowd) have an interesting and shameful plan.... > Make young people with raging hormones feel as guilty as possible for even having impulses that God gave them, and desperate and fearful if they act on them > Deny them birth control, even though some of them will inevitably have sex, effectively forcing them to become pregnant > Blame the girl for becoming pregnant > Then deprive her of the right to make her own decision about what to do with her own life and body > Scorn, condemn, and emotionally abuse her if her pregnancy comes to light > Then force them to seek someone who will take the risk of performing a very dangerous and illegal procedure to terminate her pregnancy, or even commit suicide because of the guilt and alienation that has been imposed upon them I am so thankful not to be a poor girl in that situation, and "holier than thou" Christians should be too. There but for the grace of God go any one of us.
14 :
for everyone who answered "t's their own stupid fault" have you never made a mistake? You're quick enough to take pity on children but is a 16 yr old ( or even a 14 yr old???) who gets ( or gets someone) pregnant not a child? I see your compassion is really worth f*ck all, you're just sanctimonious. And as for condoms not being available freely too all - well, sure aids ( or a 1000 other horrible diseases) is not something people have to worry about is it??!
