Best thing to do is talk to your Insurance Department at work and find out what is covered and what isn't. Just because you have Blue Cross Blue Shield, doesn't mean your insurance is the same as someone else who has that type of insurance. It all depends on what kind of coverage your company is paying for.

Is your girlfriend on your blue cross blue shield? If she is, then yes, childbirth would be covered. If she is not, and the two of you live together, you may be able to add her as a domestic partner if that is something that is offered by your company. If she is not on your policy and cannot be added childbirth (and pre-natal care) would not be covered since you are not the one having the baby. You can add your child to your health insurance once he or she is born. As far as child care is concerned, it varies depending on where you live and the age of the child. I paid $125 a week for my son when he was 18 months old, but it would have been about $200 a week if I put him in child care when he was 12 months. The younger they are, the more it usually costs.
