If the only reason people don't have health insurance is because they spend their money on luxuries instead?
as the neocons claim, how can forcing them to buy coverage be a bad thing? If their irresponsibility is putting a drain on our system, why not correct the problem? Buy your children health insurance instead of the X-Box.

When I was self-employed, I couldn't get insurance due to a pre-existing condition.

A fair amount, but I'd bet that most are just trying to get caught up on basic necessities or paying down existing debt.

Good answer, good answer! Actually, all they know is this: If a Dem thought it up, or if a Dem thought he or she might think it up, or if a Dem might like it---it must be a horrible, terrible idea that puts our freedom and our finances on the line!

Health insurance premiums cost much more than an X-box does. Further, people are currently unable to obtain health insurance even if they have the money, if they have pre-existing conditions. The healthcar horror stories are rampant and true. The United States is the only civilized/industrialized country in the World that does not provide its citizens with healthcare. We can bomb the shit out of those half a world away and then spend hundreds of billions occupying and rebuilding their country. Why can't we do the humane and affordable task of providing our citizens with healthcare?

You obviously haven't priced personal health insurance lately.

Youre completely missing the point. Health insurance is purely a personal choice. I believe chris rock said it best, "insurance should be called incase sh1t; you but insurance incase sh1t happens". What NEEDS to be passed, are regulations that remove the requirement placed on hospitals that require them to provide treatment to everyone. People should be wise enough to know what services they should buy, and there should be consequences for not doing so. Let these people learn the hard way that if they CHOOSE not to pay for insurance, they may not have a valuable service when they desperately need it. If the government were going to anything, let them provide oversight. Let them force the insurance companies to provide coverage to ANYONE who wants to pay for it, regardless of preexisting conditions.

And when they don't buy the insurance and Geitner's health care police arrest them and they go to jail, who is going to feed them and their families? Those who are currently paying the bills/taxes, of course.
