How come "Bush" said he wanted all children in Iraq to have health insurance but says "NO" to help USA kids

How come "Bush" said he wanted all children in Iraq to have health insurance but says "NO" to help USA kids?
WASHINGTON - President Bush, in a confrontation with Congress, on Wednesday vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have dramatically expanded children's health insurance for children in the USA. It was only the fourth veto of Bush's presidency, and one that some Republicans feared could carry steep risks for their party in next year's elections. The Senate approved the bill with enough votes to override the veto, but the margin in the House fell short of the required number.

A health care system that would give it to all our kids would need to be a socialist type like Europe and Canada which doesn't work too well. It will take time to find a way to keep our system and give everyone coverage. I don't want to see our health care system turned into Canadas where you have to wait til you're assigned an MRI even if you desperately need it.

I was sick when I read this. So many people are spending half their income just to insure their kids. Its sad Bush doesn't care more about the American children. Our country will be better off when he is out of office.

Bush likes to take the hard stands such as continuing the "war" in Iraq, standing up against health care for children, ...

He was kidding with you. We have the best health care for children, we quickly take care of them ?!

The simplest answer is that he KNOWS that it should be part of all viable societies, as does most of the thinking world. He doesn't see it in the US because there is no funding to allow it. No funding unless one negates the newer tax breaks for the elite monied few, stops spending on a war that drains national coffers, and dissavows perhaps the strongest political lobbies that both parties rely on to fund their campaigns. It seems that death and taxes are certain in this society, not good health care for all.

Probably because the poorest of our children is rich compared to the richest of an Iraq child. The new bill that he is going to veto, does not take away all the coverage, it prevents it expanding to people who's income level allows for them to afford insurance already. The plan would further increase taxes and create an even bigger group of people living off the government teet therefore creating a bigger voting group for the Dems, see how that works and why the Dems constantly want to expand government programs. Same reason they pretend to care about immigrants and want amnesty for them all, without even considering or caring about the consequences to our country.

Please, just another social program. I agree with the President. While I would like all our children to have health insurance, I am not willing to pay for it out of my taxes. How's this, I'll make a deal with you. You limit welfare, WIC and similar programs to 12 months total in a person's life and I'll give you health insurance for kids. You can't keep asking people to pay for everything everyone else does not have. It may be cruel, but it's a fact.

LOL, you're pretty good at taking things out of context.

i cannot find words to express my disgust with bush and members of congress for the death of that bill. how in the name of sanity can you justify expenditures for the war, while not having the money for children? we believe that in america anything is possible. only in america, the self professed "greatest" country in the world can such logic rule the day. i am sad for this country. this is not what i served in the army for, not what i went to viet nam for. i used to think that bush just looked an awfully lot like one of the lower primates, now i know the truth. he IS a lower primate that looks an awfully lot like a human. may god help this country.

Because he feels guilty about all the cluster bombs we dropped in Iraq injuring children.
