Will my child still get benefits from the army if im not married

Will my child still get benefits from the army if im not married?
I'm a few months pregnant, (& yes i'm old enough) my boyfriend is currently in Iraq, except hes not really my boyfriend anymore :\ I was wondering if my child would still get health insurance / college money from the army if his father was in service? or do we need to be married in order for any of that to happen?

A "dependent" is defined as: b. Any natural child (legitimate or illegitimate) or child adopted by the applicant, if the child is under 18 years of age and unmarried, regardless of whether or not the applicant has custody of the child. The term natural child includes any illegitimate child when: the applicant claims the child as theirs, or the applicant's name is listed on the birth certificate as the parent, or a court order establishes paternity; or if any person makes an allegation of paternity that has not been finally adjudicated by a court;

He will still be eligible for dependant benefits, yes. Be aware though that "College Money" is solely at the discretion of the service member, your son will only get part of his father's GI Bill IF THE FATHER chooses to give some to him.

The baby's dad would have to enroll him in DEERs for the child to get benefits. He would need a copy of the birth certificate. The father if he meets requirements can transfer part of his GI Bill to his child. When the child is older he can apply for special grants.

Yes your child will get benefits. Please see a lawyer who deals with the military and establish paternity. You will receive a check for child support every month and a military card for the little one for health care. As for college money is one must save for that.
