Mother does not use health insurance that father is providing for his children. What should happen

Mother does not use health insurance that father is providing for his children. What should happen?
I pay $550 a month for health insurance for my children. One of my children became sick and was in the hospital for a week. I called the hospital to verify that the insurance that I have provided was being used. Both the hospital and insurance company stated that the insurance was not used. The mother used the state provided insurance called Tenn Care, which is paid by the tax payers. What happens in this situaton. I feel like my money is being wasted, because it is not being used. What can I do?? Thanks, Concerned in Tennessee

Quit paying it. Cancel the policy. Problem solved.

I would not think the children would even be eligiable for the state insurance, since they HAVE insurance and their father makes too much to be eligible for state aid. Call the hospital and tell them there was a mistake and give them your insurance information. That's probably the best way to do it without getting your ex in trouble for insurance fraud.

important thing is ur children are coverd. If Tn care is covering them well then save ur money use it to do something nice with/for kids. If the coverage is inadequate ( as medicare was for my mom resulting in her death at the hands of a quack ) then try and get ur wife to use urs and sue for neglect try and get custody if she balks

If you are court ordered to provide it you must, but the wife is double dipping. Notify the state and provide them with your insurance information. This is what is wrong with our countries financial system--the people like the wife taking advantage and the states lack of communication.

Tracy H. Is right. Medicaid is suppose to be for children who do not have insurance. You are basically paying twice to have your children covered. 1) by paying for insurance and then 2) by paying taxes to pay for Tenn Care. Now saying this. A dumb question is does the mother know you have the children covered and does she know how to access it? If Tenn Care has as many limitations as Texas Medicaid or CHIP (children coverage here) has here in Texas I don't think she is deliberately trying to avoid using your insurance. I'm of course just assuming. Here in Texas it would actually be more of an effort for her to use Medicaid instead of a private insurance company.

if you can get proof the children are covered, you can probably get them dropped from your insurance, but you will need proof to do that

The mother is committing fraud, in that she has obtained coverage without informing them that there was already insurance coverage. The only good reason to do this is so that welfare come after you for some or all of the cost. It will not matter by then whether or not you have coverage, only that you have deeper pockets. A California father, who had custody since the divorce, was ordered to pay back welfare for what the mother collected for 7 years years by claiming she had custody and didn't know where he was. Notify welfare AND the county prosecutor. Consider preparing a custody challenge, should she get arrested. If you need help with that, go to Dads House in Yahoo Groups. There's an educational manual in the file section that can teach you what you need to know. The organization it came from is defunct due to attorneys that tried to take it over and make money from it. Take the time to learn what you can and should do. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/DadsHouse/ http://www.rcfp.org/taping/ http://www.glennsacks.com http://www.parentalalienation.org/
